My head spins from all that has happened this past month and all that is going on in the world today. I feel a bit off balance and am hoping we have a grand Album Making Party on the 10th and then can take a deep breath and move forward without so many things coming at us besides the actual work of photography.

It was great to celebrate our daughter's 25th birthday with her and her boyfriend and their puppy in Spokane, but not so good to come home to have her day marked by the news of Bin Laden's death. Lew is a very peaceful person and it seems to run contrary to growth to see people rejoicing in death. "I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that" MLK Jr

We really do hope you will join us a week from Tuesday here at the studio in Ballard to help create the albums and handmade brag books that will be our gifts to our families for the next year. We hope to create 150 albums and at least that many of the trifolds. Its a big goal but can be done. We are working from 9am to 9pm and are asking for adults only as it takes a precision to get them completed looking professional. We take pride in giving gifts that have been touched by many hands and that should be the case on May 10th. If you can come even for an hour it would be valuable. If you can't attend but know the value of this work and would like to help you can provide food/drink for our workers or paper for the albums. Please call 206-297-0885 for complete info.

I have seen the latest work by Amanda and Kelly and am really thrilled with the results. Truly lovely images will be given to the families they worked with and I am so thankful to them and to all that have pitched in this last month.

The photographers meeting was dynamite and I am most grateful to Susan Heath and Lily West for their words of wisdom. Again thanks to both Megan and Diane for their outstanding work on this event.

We have received our first donations from the newsletter mailing and they touch me since I know all three of the donors and have worked with my camera for each in a different way. Kudos to Seattle Spine, the Davis family and Lewis family for their generosity, since they are the first they get a special mention here. Its a lot to keep this little non-profit running smoothly and fully funded so we are grateful to each of you who consider sharing the fruits of your labor with us.

I am sharing today the face of Gavin, a stunning little boy and his parents that Sarah and I met in Boston. Sarah was his main photographer but I was grateful to grab some photos myself. We received a lovely thank you from his mom along with his release forms today. Enjoy this little guy as he truly was a joy to capture.

In love and peace, Lynette
