"Let the beauty we love be what we do." Rumi

This past Friday was our big work party where over 25 friends, supporters and Soul families came together to create 100 beautiful photo albums using stunning papers from around the world. We met our goal and also started to work on future books. It is so important to me that the gifts of Soul match the heart of our work, that they have been created and touched by hands that want to honor the lives of our children and bring comfort to families who deserve the highest respect. I thank each and every person who came this year and those who happened through my studio on other errands who are now signed up for the next work party. I thank Jenni and Shirley who love to work with their hands in a creative way, but who kept their minds on the task of completing the work for our accounting for the IRS. I thank the parents and grandparents of Soul children who came and put their special understanding into the books they created: Jodi, Heidi, David, Lisa, Celina and Kristen. Heidi and David were heading to Children's Hospital after their time with us to deliver some special gifts to the NICU in honor of their son Mercer pictured here today. The day before the work party was the one year mark from the time of his loss and we were so touched that they spent part of their special remembrance time with us.

I give huge kudos to Kari for her organization of this work party. I want to acknowledge two donations from local business: stunning grosgrain ribbon from Midori, which is used to tie closed each finished album and amazingly delicious chocolate from Theo which was so appreciated by the workers.

Thanks to our board members Brenda and Deb for coming and working hard. Deb brought the most delicious homemade cookies and two hard working friends. She also took the decorated canes to deliver to dear Marin. My art group created the canes at my birthday party for Marin who is working hard in preparation for the upcoming para Olympics in Beijing. Also thanks to my good friend and Soul photographer, Kurt Smith who happened by with the farm fresh eggs that I so covet. A little special hug to Jodi, Soul mom and photographer who not only worked with us on Friday but who dropped off a completed Soul shoot this week that is truly beautiful.

Special thanks to dear friend and generous supporter Susan Krueger who always supplies us with book board, paper and expertise and on Friday saved the day by driving all the way back to Woodinville for needed book tape. Susan has a heart of gold and a way of lifting my spirits and making me laugh that causes me to savor each time I am with her. Of course, a little hug to my daugher Lew who joined us and helped in this task that is so dear to my heart.

I am happy that dear Charlotte's recent visit to Children's hospital was short and resulted in much valuable sharing between the staff and Cha Cha's mom Angie. I share a photo of Charlotte today once again give a little salute in thanks for her recent fund raising efforts.

Today along with dear friend Sidni, I have the joyful journey to Swedish hospital to meet and greet the newest baby in my life, Eleanor, baby sister to Soul angel Josiah and big brother Henry who is celebrating his third birthday. I am delighted for Alice and Dave but sad that I missed photographing her early arrival that happened during the work party. The enthusiastic volunteers drowning out my ringing phone. Josiah's photo will close this missive and serve to remind me that each day brings both joy and sorrow and from this I hopefully learn to accept each and move forward to "let the beauty I love be what I do." In love and peace, Lynette
